DELOS SANTOS, MA. CRIISTIINA B., EDEN, SHIIRA T., LARIKOZA, MARIIELLA R. Attachment Styles, Reasons for Being an NBSB and Perception about Intimate Relationship of Selected Graduating Students in Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Thesis Adviser: Ms. Vivian D. Rogando, MA.

This descriptive correlational study was conducted to determine the attachment styles, reasons for being an NBSB and perception about intimate relationship of selected graduating students in Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. Specifically, it aimed to determine: (a) the attachment styles of the participants in terms of secure, fearful, preoccupied and dismissing; (b) reasons for being an NBSB in terms of personal, family and social factor; (c) perception about intimate relationship of the participants either positive or negative; (d) if there is significant relationship between attachment styles and perception about intimate relationship of selected graduating students who have no-boyfriend-since-birth in Cavite State University; and (e) if there is significant relationship between reasons for being an NBSB and perception about intimate relationship of selected graduating students who are no-boyfriend-since-birth in Cavite State University. Purposive sampling was used to identify the sample of 70 female graduating students ages 19-25 years old who have not experienced having a boyfriend since birth.

To determine the attachment styles of the participants, the Experience Close Relationship- Revised (ECR-R) was used and two self—made questionnaires for determining the reasons for being NBSB and know whether they have positive or negative perception about intimate relationship. The findings revealed that most of the NBSB graduating students at Cavite State University fell under fearful attachment style which was contradicted in others studies that fell under secure attachment. Social issues and personal reasons were found to be the most prevalent reasons why they are NBSBs. The participants have very high positive and high negative perception about intimate relationship. When correlated, the four attachment styles have no significant relationship on how the NBSBs perceive intimate relationship. It was found out that the family significantly influenced how they perceive intimate relationship, either positive or negative.
|
