Bachelor of Arts in Journalism Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2018. Adviser: Mrs. Lisette D. Mendoza. <br/>This study was conducted to measure the perception of selected BA Journalism students on tabloidization in primetime news programs. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the level of exposure to primetime news programs, awareness on tabloidization, and the relationship of exposure to primetime news programs and awareness of selected BA Journalism students on tabloidization. The study used descriptive method. The researchers provided a survey questionnaire that was divided into two parts. The first part determined the participants' exposure to primetime news programs and the second part was about tabloidization in primetime news programs. The survey questionnaires were given to the 96 third year BA Journalism students of Cavite State University — Main Campus. In terms of approach, the study employed quantitative approach which was focused on obtaining the numerical findings used in the survey method. The results of the survey questionnaire were used to determine the third year BA Journalism students' level of exposure to primetime news programs, and their level of awareness on tabloidization in primetime news programs. After getting the results of exposure and awareness, the researchers determined the relationship of the participants' level of exposure and level of awareness in tabloidization on primetime news programs.<br/>The researchers are recommending to Journalism instructors to serve as their guide in class interactions regarding tabloidization and other related matter; to journalists and future journalists to become more considerate on how they will present their news; to journalism students to be vigilant on how the news is presented to be able to distinguish the better quality of news; to the future researchers to use this study as their guide and reference; Journalism classes should give more emphasis to the discussion of tabloidization so that the students would be aware of the real definition of tabloidization and can lead them to refrain from doing tabloidization.<br/> |
