Summary, etc. BAES, LOUISE NICOLE D. and PLAZA, DESSA MOORE L. Role Adjustment among Social Workers Handling Cases of Abandoned Children in Selected Institutions in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Social Work. College of Arts and Sciences, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Renato T. Agdalpen, MA.
This study covers the role adjustment of Social Workers handling cases of abandoned children in selected institutions in Cavite. The study attempted to ascertain the role adjustment of Social Workers in selected institutions in Cavite and their role adjustment based on the behaviors of abandoned children. The eight (8) Social Workers included in the study were from selected private institutions in Cavite catering abandoned children with minimum of two (2) years of experience serving them. There were seven 7) private residential institutions catering abandoned children based on the list of Non-Government Organizations released by Department of Social Welfare and Development-Region IV-A. The researchers interviewed one or more social workers per institution. The study used the narrative research design. The researchers narrated the observed behaviors in abandoned children and the role adjustment among Social Workers as affected by the observed behaviors in abandoned children.
This study was guided by the Role Theory which attempts to explain the interactions between individuals in organizations by focusing on the roles they play. Social Learning Theory was also utilized in this study. This is primarily concerned with an individual's learning through cognitive processes, modeling, and social observation.
Social Systems Theory talked about the human need cannot be considered apart from the larger system in which humans function. Social Workers as affected by their observed behaviors from abandoned children were able to help themselves. Also, they are generalist dealing with diverse people. As part of the results in the study, it was shown that Social Workers help people depending on what they need and what client they handle. They are not too activity/ program-based because anything could change depending on the behavioral factor of the abandoned children. Good thing was Social Workers were versatile, flexible, resourceful and multitasking. They were focused on the welfare of the abandoned children.
