Bachelor of Arts in Journalism.Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. June 2019 Adviser: Ms. Ruby A. Manaig<br/><br/>The study was conducted from March 2019 to April 2019 in Indang, Cavite. The study aimed to identify the level of conversation, conformity orientation, and the communication patterns of children raised by single parents in Indang, Cavite.<br/><br/>A descriptive quantitative research was used in this study. Purposive sampling was used in the selection of 70 children as participants whose age ranged from 12 to 18 years old. A 20-item questionnaire adapted from the study of Severo, C. and Valerio, F. (2016) was used to gather the necessary data. Descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation, and percentage were used to analyze the data.<br/><br/>Results revealed that the participants had very high level of conversation and very high level of conformity orientation. This means they communicate with each other freely and frequently about activities, thoughts, and feelings.Overall, a consensual communication pattern was obtained from the participants’ responses.<br/><br/>In conclusion, consensual type of family is very evident among children with single parents. This pattern encourages open communication and maintains the hierarchy within a family. In addition, parents in this type of communication pattern listen to their children’s opinion but still make the ultimate decision.<br/> |
