MOJICA, ABIGAIL A. Level of Exposure to and Perception on Indecency in Print Ads with Women in Bikinis of Selected Teenagers of Capitol Hills Executive Subdivision, Trece Martires City. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication Major in Journalism. Cavite State University. April 2012. Adviser: Ms. Ruby A. Manaig.
The study investigated the relationship of level of exposure and the perception on indecency in print advertisements with women in bikinis by selected teenagers of Capitol Hills Executive Subdivision, Trece Martires City.
The study aimed to identify in which print medium the selected teenagers commonly see print advertisements with women in bikinis; identify the products' advertisements showing women in bikinis in print that the respondents are exposed to; determine the level of exposure of selected teenagers to print advertisements with women in bikinis; ascertain the indicators of indecency in different products' advertisements; determine the perception of teenagers on women in bikinis in promoting products as an act of indecency; and determine the significant relationship between the level of exposure and the perception on indecency of selected teenagers to women in bikinis in print ads.
Using the descriptive survey method, 100 selected teenagers, ranging from 13 to
19 years old, from Capitol Hills Executive Subdivision were asked to answer the validated questionnaires where data was gathered. The respondents were determined through the quota sampling.
Based on the data gathered, which was treated statistically, the researcher found out that magazines are the most commonly used print medium of the respondents. They were often exposed to print advertisements with women in bikinis, like San Mig Light.
Aside from that, according to the chosen respondents, sexual exploitation in print advertisements was indicated as it shows vulgarity. The respondents understood every print advertisement with women in bikinis and their over-all perception, based on the mean, lies in the "Average" area which implies that the respondents have different perception on the study.
The study also revealed that there is significant relationship between the level of exposure and the perception on indecency in print advertisements with women in bikinis which implied that the higher the level of exposure, the higher the perception on indecency, and vice versa.
|
