Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, April 2016. Adviser: Ms. Lady Aileen G. Ambion. The study was conducted to determine the level of awareness and preparedness of selected residents of Carmona, Cavite towards West Valley Fault (WVF) risks. Specifically, the study aimed to: determine the level of exposure of the residents to the communication strategies used by the Municipality of Carmona about WVF risks determine the level of awareness of the participants towards WVF risks, determine the level of preparedness of the participants towards WVF risks; determine the relationship. Of resident's exposure to the communication strategies used by the Municipality of Carmona to their awareness and preparedness towards WVF risks; and to assess the relationship between the participants' level of awareness and level of preparedness towards WVF risks. The study used the descriptive research design. Quota sampling technique was used to select the participants. The participants were composed of 200 selected residents from barangays Bancal, Cabilang Baybay, Lantic, Mabuhay. The survey questionnaire was pre-tested by the selected residents of Carmona, Cavite to determine the validity and reliability of the instrument. The study revealed that the participants have a moderate level of exposure to the communication strategies used by the local government of Carmona, Cavite regarding West Valley Fault risks. Results showed that, participants were aware on WVF risks. Findings of the study also revealed that the participants are highly prepared towards WVF risks. Research unveiled that exposure has a signification relationship to the awareness of the residents of Carmona, Cavite towards WVF risks. Lastly, the study proved that there is a significant relationship between the participant's level of awareness and preparedness towards WVF risks.
