Abstract: HERMONO, MA. APRIELLE QUEEN B. and LUMABI, SIGRID IVY G. Android Application Development for Infant Care. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Ms. Vanessa G. Coronado. This study aimed to develop a system that will help mothers to monitor their child's growth development and keep track of the child's feeding status, immunizations and vaccinations status. The research was conducted at the Rural Health Unit of Poblacion Barangay 4, Indang, Cavite from June 2015 to February 2016. Assessment on the existing problems in the operation of Indang Municipal Rural Health Unit was identified through conducted interviews among its health personnel after seeking approval from the Municipal Health Officer. Fishbone diagram was used to prioritize the intervention for Infant Care development using Java programming language, Android Studio and the Android Software Development Kit (SDK) as the development tools for the application. The following were the machine specifications that the proponents used to develop the system: Windows 10 Operating System with 4 GB RAM, 1000GB Hard Disk space and Intel Core i3-5005U 64 bit based-processor. Extensive literature search from WHO and DOH standards and guidelines were adapted in the entry of information about infant recommended height and weight for age, growth charts for children 0-12 months, vaccination schedules and protocols, and age-specific feeding requirements for infants. To determine the acceptability level based on software quality attributes, the proponents conducted an evaluation with ten mothers in selected barangays of Indang, Cavite. The system was evaluated through the following criteria: functionality, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, and portability using the rating from 5-excellent, 4-very good, 3-good, 2-fair and 1-poor. The results showed that in terms of the over-all evaluation of the respondents, all criteria obtained "excellent" ratings in all of the indicators specified in the evaluation instrument. The android application was proven by the respondents to be excellently and properly working according to its functional requirements. For further enhancement of the application the proponents recommended to: include a monitoring for the medicines that the infant will take from 0-12 months, convert the application feature to online for the data consolidation so that the pediatrician can fetch the updated data inputted by the mother through Internet connection, and include videos or tutorials in proper handling the baby or techniques or tips on parenting.
