Abstract: AMPARO, NIKKI C., DILAG, HEIZEL M., and REYES, MARGIE S. Challenges and Aspirations of Single Working Mothers to their Children in Selected Barangays of Laurel Batangas. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University Don Severino De las Alas Campus April 2016. Thesis Adviser: Renato T. Agdalpen. This study was made to investigate the everyday challenges of single working mothers and their aspirations for their children. They were from Laurel, Batangas and selected through purposive and snowball sampling methods. The researchers used Narrative Analysis for this study. The researchers have narrated the information that they got from the participants about how single working mothers faced their challenges and how they view and prepare for their aspirations for their children. The participants consist of three single working mothers from Laurel Batangas who were on their early adulthood stage and with children ranging from 3-14 years old during this study. The researchers used an Interview Guide that was validated. The result of the study revealed that the everyday challenges of the three single working mothers were mostly from the physical aspects such as their tasks from morning and after their work, getting companion of the child in an emergency meeting, also financial problem as when they are dealing with health emergencies and budgeting their salary, preparing for special occasions, they also faced emotional problems most likely in the night before they sleep. They do not have enough time for their friends and for relaxing because of their busy schedule. But all of these challenges do not give them the reason to give up. They face it all wisely and bravely. They seek the help of their friends, family and other people with a good heart for them to overcome those challenges every day. They are also very positive about the future of their children. In order to make their aspiration for their children be possible, they are currently working, saving money, keeping the faith in god and staying strong for their family. They are preparing financially to ensure the future of their children and to reach their goals. With also the help of others, they are very positive that they will be able to reach those aspirations that they dream for their children.
