Abstract: AREVALO, JOHN MICHAEL R. and CONTEMPRATO, RACHELLE S., Assessment of Potential Ergonomic Problem in the Working Environment at Reliance Apparel and Fashion Manufacturing Company. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Engr. Willie C. Buclatin. The study entitled, "Assessment of Potential Ergonomic Problem in the Working Environment at Reliance Apparel and Fashion Manufacturing Company" was conducted from September 2015 to February 2016. The study aimed to determine the demographic profile of the workers, the significant relationship between demographic profile of the workers and identified ergonomic problem, the significant relationship between work related factors and ergonomic problem, the working posture of the production operator that can cause ergonomic problems, and recommend possible solutions to prevent the ergonomic problem in the working environment. The data were gathered with the use of a survey questionnaire that was designed according to the objectives Of the study. It was distributed to 177 participants from Reliance Apparel and Fashion Manufacturing Company. The demographic profile identified were age, gender, body mass index and civil status. Then, the significant ergonomic problems present in working environment were identified such as anthropometric, cognitive, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and psychomotor disorders. Also, work-related factors including working hours per day and period of working years of production operator were identified as a contributing factor in the ergonomic problem. Furthermore, the working posture stimulates the manifestation of ergonomic problem of production operator such as sitting, bending head while sewing garments, standing while pressing and stooping while lifting garments. Recommendations were made in order to alleviate the ergonomic risk factors present in the work place of the garments manufacturing company. These involved adjustment made to the sewing chair. Making available of ergonomic design of a sewing chair in workstation to promote adequate proper body position and lessen movement constraints to a minimum. In order to maintain adequate body position when working particularly in a sitting position, operators should be provided with the right chair and provide standing operators with good quality anti-fatigue mats that cover the entire working area. This anti-fatigue mats may lessen the stress of the workers in prolonged standing position.
