Abstract: BRUBIO, ALEN B. and DIAZ, JOHN BRINTON F. PH R Guide: An Android Application Using Image Segmentation and Road Sign Detection for Road Sign in the Philippines. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Cavite State University, Indang Campus, May 2017. Adviser: Ms. Ezra Marie F. Ramos. An android application using image segmentation and road sign detection for road sign in the Philippines. The study was developed to guide and provide knowledge to the people, especially drivers. The study was conducted from March 2016 to April 2017 at Cavite State University-Main Campus. In the development of the system, a rapid development process was used. In the planning phase, the researchers identified the problem through research and formulated a possible solution. They gathered the information needed and identified the objectives to answer the problem. The prototyping phase is where the software development is iterating until it is nearly perfect. It consists of two (2) sub phases: user design, and construction. Designing the application should follow the needs of the user and the features that are in the planning. Researchers decide to be simple, the application initialises like the camera of the phone. After the development of user design, the researchers will construct a detailed definition of the design of each function, based on the requirements of the future end-users. Software to implement the automated functions will be developed and tested. The implementation phase is where the coding process of the system started. The the testing phase is where the system tests the functionalities of the system. Lastly, evaluation measured the system if it was completed by the developers. The evaluation was based on the set of questionnaires. The residents who know how to drive in Imus Cavite evaluated the system. A software evaluation sheet based on ISO 9126 was used as the research instrument. The overall result of the software evaluation with criteria of functionality, reliability, usability, and efficiency shows that the software was excellently done. It means that the proponents met all the expectations and desired output for the developed software.
