The study was conducted from August 2018 to April 2019 among 180 children with migrant parents. This aimed to determine the cost and benefit of parents' migration to the children of selected barangays in Indang, Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to: 1. describe the socio-economic characteristics of children with migrant parents; 2. describe the socio-economic characteristics of migrant parents; 3. determine the social and economic benefits of parent's migration to children; 4. determine the social and economic costs of parent's migration to children; and 5. determine the coping mechanism of children with migrant parents. Descriptive research was used in the study. It was used to describe the socio-economic characteristics of children and migrant parents, Interviews among participants were done to gather primary data. Participants were children with migrant parents whose age are from 15 to 25. Likert scale was applied to determine the cost and benefits of parents' migration.
There were 95 female participants with age range from 19 to 20 years. Most were Roman Catholic and an eldest child. Among 180 participants, 129 participants were fourth-year college with an allowance of P501-P1000 per week and with a General Percentage Average (GPA) that ranged from 1.76 to 2.50. There were 44 children with existing scholarship/financial assistance that generally came from the government amounting to tess than P3,OOO per months and among 32 children who stopped from schooling for more than a year due to financial problem, 8 participants were out-of-school youth.
The participants were 6 to 12 years old when their parents went abroad. Most children's guardian was their mother with an age that ranged from 45 to 54 years with a household size of 1 to 4. Fathers working abroad permanently were college graduates and been working abroad for 17 years as laborer/helper/skilled worker. Likewise, mothers working abroad were college graduates but has been working abroad for 16 years as household service worker/domestic helper, both mothers' and fathers' country of immigration were in West Asia. In addition, the parents' status of employment before migration was permanent.
The children were partially affected by the social cost of parent migration with an overall mean of 2.20. On the other hand, social benefit of parent migration to children was beneficial with an overall mean of 3.71.
The economic cost of migration includes expenses prior to departure on processing fee. The children with migrant parents were positive towards coping on the temporary loss during parent migration.
