Abstract: RODIS, EVANGELINE PESTAÑO, "demand and Supply Analysis of "Saba" Variety of Banana in Selected Towns of Cavite", a Research Study of Agricultural Science Curriculum, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, April, 1989. Adviser: Miss Lorna V. Alcones. this study was conducted 1) to determine some of the socio-economic characteristics of "saba" banana producers and consumers; 2) to determine and evaluate the effects of different factors of the demand and supply of "saba" banana variety; 3) to identify problems encountered by "saba" banana producers and consumers. A total of 200 respondents were taken from five selected towns of Cavite, namely: Indang, Trece Martires, Amadeo, Silang, and tendez. 100 of the respondents were considered as consumers and 100 were producers. Consumers ages ranged from 21 - 70 with a mean average of 45 years. A great number of purchasers only attained elementary education. the average size of households was 8 and the average monthly income was ? 1,590.00. The consumers utilized 214 pieces of bananas per month. It was based on weekly consumption which was converteé to monthly usage. Most of the consumers used papaya as a substitute. It was also reported that the relatively poor quality.
