RELATIONSHIP OF MARKETING PRACTICES AND PROFITABILITY SELECTED BARRIOS OF INDANG, CAVITE. Adviser : Mrs. Eugenia Matel. This research study was . conducted from July 1 to August 15, 1989 to determine the marketing practices employed by the farmers, the profitability of the production, the personal characteristics of the farmers, and the relationship of marketing practices and profitability of mango production associated with the personal characteristics of the farmers in selected barrios of Indang, Cavite in terms of: marketing practices and profitability; marketing practices and personal characteristics; and profitability and personal characteristics like age, educational attainment, size of the family and years of experience Fortyfive farmers were interviewed from Calumpang Lejos, Banabe Cerca, end Banaba Lejos. Those who had 5—10 cerabao or pico variety mango trees were selected by means Chi—square and Lambda coef—of purposive random sampling of correlation were used to analyze the data. Based on the results of this study, the marketing practices employed by the farmers in terms of place of sale were Indang and outside Indang and in terms of method Of sale, they employed retail and wholesale methods. Results also showed that most of them obtained good profit. It was found out that marketing practice is related to profitability in terms of place of sale and profit; marketing practice is related to personal characteristic in terms of place of sele and educational attainment, and lastly, profitability is related to personal characteristic in terms of profit and years of experience. Each variable showed significant relationship and dependence on each other.
