Abstract: AUSTRAL, CARLA D. Backyard Hog Fattening in Bancod, Indang Cavite: An Entrepreneurial Development Project. Entrepreneurial Development Project Report. Bachelor in Agricultural Entrepreneurship major in Animal Production. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Mr. Efraim P. Panganiban. The hog fattening project was a sole proprietorship agribusiness and was conducted in Barangay Bancod, Indang, Cavite from December 2, 2018 to March 8, 2019. The student entrepreneur aimed to: (1) gain experience and managerial skills in hog fattening; (2) apply the theories learned in the classroom to the actual operation of the project; and (3) earn profit from a small-scale hog fattening project. The hog fattening project used four weanlings with an average weight of 16.5 kg, which was purchased at Sitio Quarry, Barangay Bancod, Indang, Cavite. The project involved different activities starting from preparation of the pig pen, purchasing of stocks, weighing, feeding management, bathing of animals, cleaning the pig pen, and harvesting up to marketing. At the end of raising period, the four fattening hogs attained an average final live weight of 94.5 kg and 73.63 kg dressed weight. The project incurred a total production cost of P 40,035.2 with a total sales of P 45,807.5 from the four hogs which was sold in dressed weight basis, giving a return on investment (ROI) of 14.41 percent. The project was concluded profitable and it enabled the student to gain knowledge and skills regarding hog fattening production.
