Abstract: TARANG, KARL WILLIAM M. Backyard Hog Fattening In Brgy. Bucal, Mendez, Cavite: An Entrepreneurial Project. Entrepreneurial Development Project Report. Bachelor in Agricultural Entrepreneurship major in Animal Production. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Mr. Noriel B. Bergonio. The hog fattening project was conducted at Barangay Bucal, Mendez, Cavite from December 2, 2018 to March 15, 2019. The project aimed to: (1) develop skills in hog fattening business in terms of actual operation and management; and (2) determine the profitability of hog fattening. The project used four weanlings with an average weight of 13.75 kg. The weanlings were purchased in Sitio Quarry, Brangay Bancod, Indang, Cavite. It involved different activities starting from preparation of pig pen, purchasing of stocks, purchasing of feeds, feeding management, weighing of stocks, bathing, cleaning of pen and marketing. Each stock had an average feed consumption of 200 kg. The hogs obtained an average final weight of 89.25 kg, with an average daily gain of 740.2 g. Its feed conversion efficiency was 2.65. At the end of the production period, the project incurred a total production cost of P 38,852.71 with total sales of P 44,308. A net income of P 5,455.29 was gained from four hogs sold in live weight basis. The return on investment was 14.04 percent. The project was profitable and it enabled the student to gain knowledge and skills regarding hog fattening.
