Abstract: ALCANTARA, MA. PAMELA E. and ROS/0. BRYAN MICHAEL Q. Development of Cost Estimating Software in Construction using Visual Basic. Net Language. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Engr. Cene M. Bago. Cost estimate is the approximation of a program, project, or operation. A project could be any process that begins performing work activities and/or creating assets. The accuracy of the estimate is heavily dependent on the project scope definition level: as the project's design and conditions are better defined, so are the estimated values. Estimating is done by breaking down in manageable parts the overall scope of a project to which resources can be assigned and cost. Getting the cost estimate of a proposed building manually would waste time and can be hassle to the estimators, so there is an alternative, by using software. Using software could save the time spent by the estimator to estimate a project. It is also more efficient, more accurate and more consistent than using manual estimate, though, some are still adept in using manual estimation. Visual Basic. NET (VB.NET) is an object - oriented, multi - paradigm programming language implemented under the. NET Framework. This is the programming language used to develop the estimating software. In conclusion, the authors were able to produce a cost estimating software for construction and was able to achieve the objectives of the study. Also, it is recommended to improve the software and widen its scope of work.
