Abstract: MATEL, PABLO B Applied Research IV (Agricultural Science Curriculum) Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite, March 1991 0 GROWTH RESPONSE OF DENDROBIUM TO DIFFERENT GROWING MEDIA. Adviser . Mr. Reynante RozuL This study was conducted at AO Luna Street, Indang, Cavite from May I , 1990 to October 27, 1990; to determine the growth response of dendrobium to different growing media and to find out which of the different growing media is best suited for dendrobium. Seventeen treatments were used in this study, they were the following: T (pure charcoal) ; (charcoal with sphagnum moss) ; (charcoal with paslak) ; T (charcoal with osmunda fiber) ; (charcoal with coconut husk; T 6 (kakawate slab with sphagnum moss) ; (kakawate slab with paslak) ; T8 (kakawate slab with osmunda fiber) ; T9 (kaka— wate slab with coconut husk) ; T 10 (caimito slab with sphag—num moss) ; T11 (caimito slab with palsak , T12(caimito slab with osmunda fiber) ; T13 (caimito slab with coconut 13 husk) ; 14 (osmunda fiber slab with sphagnum moss) ; 1 5 (osmunda fiber slab with paslak) ;(osmunda fiber slab with osmunda fiber) and (osmunda fiber slab with coconut 1 7 husk). The results revealed that the best growing media was kakawate slab with pasLak. This treatment improved the growth of dendrobium in terms of height and number of leaves. The results also revealed that the use of different growing media does not affect the percentage survival of the plants .
