Abstract: BELARDO, JAMES PAUL D., DOZADO, JOSHUA F. AND MAABA, ALBERT T. Facilities and Maintenance Management Practices Employed by Selected Universities and Colleges in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management Major in Operations Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2019. Adviser: Maria Cristina L. Desepida. The study was conducted to describe facilities and maintenance management practices employed by universities and colleges in Cavite. The preliminary data in the study were gathered through survey questionnaires distributed to different universities and colleges in Cavite. The secondary data was coming from respondents’ registrar and human resource management of each chosen university from January to March 2019. Accordingly, the result from the survey questionnaire revealed that improvement has acquired the highest level of implementation in terms of facilities management practices. Predictive maintenance got the least level of implementation in terms of maintenance management practices. Based on a combination of literature, survey and questionnaire appraisal, this Study evaluates the facilities and maintenance practices in designated schools in Cavite. Spearman's rho revealed a moderate positive significant relationship between number of employees and facility management improvement practices. Moreover, a moderate positive significant relationship between number of students and number of employees to predictive and routine maintenance. Overall, the study showed that most of the universities and colleges situated in Cavite were private. The study recommends the implementation of predictive maintenance practices, which will be more effective than unplanned maintenance, mostly because of the reduction in repair costs.
