Abstract: NUNEZ, ALVIN D. Applied Research IV, AgriculturalScience Curriculum, Don Severino Agricultural College , Indang, Cavite. "Effect of Various Leaf Extracts as Liquid Fertilizer on the Growth and Yield of Bell Pepper" . Adviser: Mrs. Cecilia A. CapaLad The study entitled, "Effect of Various Leaf Ex— tracts as Liquid Fertilizer on the Growth and Yield of Bell Pepper" was conducted at the backyard of the author's relative in Asis, Mendez, Cavite from July to November 1991 in order to determine the effect of different legume leaf extracts on the growth and yield of bell pepper. It also aimed to determine the best legume extract that best enhance the growth and yield of bell pepper. A total of 108 bell pepper plants were used in this study using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four treatments replicated three times. The treatments were : 1 — control, T 2 — madre de cacao leaf extracts, T3 — Ipil—Ipil leaf extracts and 4 combination of 50% madre de cacao and 50% ipil—ipil leaf extracts. Highly significant results were obtained in the average plant height, number of days from planting to flowering, average weight of fruits per treatment and average number of fruits per plant. It was observed that 50% madre de cacao and 50% ipil—ipil leaf extracts is the best treatment as far as growth and yield of bell pepper is concerned. It was followed by ipil—ipil leaf extracts. Chemical analysis of the legumes plants shows that higher percentage of nutrients that was available in the above fertilizers aided in the faster growth and better yield of bell pepper plants. The author recommends further study on the effect of these fertilizers on the development and yield Of the plants. The author further recommends the use of other organic materials present in our locality.
