Bachelor of Science in Economics major in Development Economics. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2007. Adviser: Dr. Maria A. Ersando. A study was conducted to assess the workers' specialization and skills preferred by selected government agencies in Cavite. The study aimed to determine the following: 1.) basic information on selected government agencies in Cavite, 2.) the workers' specialization preferred by selected government agencies in Cavite in the next five years, 3.) the workers' skills preferred by selected government agencies in Cavite in the next five years, 4.) the minimum requirements and/or qualifications set by selected government agencies in hiring workers, and 5.) identify the common problems encountered by the agencies in hiring workers in relation to specialization and skills requirements. Data were obtained from 10 Agriculture and Agri-related government agencies in Cavite. Data were analyzed using descriptive method. The characteristics of selected government agencies in Cavite were described in terms of total number of employees, scope of operation, sources of income, area of residence. The total number of employees of selected government agencies in Cavite had an average of 47 employees. The employee of selected government agencies ranged from 4-149. Majority (70%) of selected government agencies in Cavite have the province as the area of operation. Majority, or eighty nine percent, of the agencies derived their required funds from the national government. Most of the employees of selected government agencies in Cavite came from within the province. Majority of the positions preferred by selected government agencies requires the Bachelor's Degree that is relevant to the job. Similarly, majority of the positions preferred to have years of relevant experience to the job being considered, and a career service eligibility of professional or second level eligibility. The most preferred skills by selected government agencies on various positions they considered were skills on computer use (operation) and ability to communicate effectively. The most common problem encountered by selected government agencies in Cavite was that applicants possess skills but were not specialized on the field needed
