Abstract: Marca, Dionisio, Jr. Masana, Cavite State University, College of Education, Laboratory School, Indang, Cavite, March,1999. Improvement and Evaluation of Guyabano Seed Remover. Adviser: Engr. Camilo A. Polinga. A study entitled Improvement and Evaluation of Guyabano Seed Remover was conducted at the College of Engineering, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. The general objective of the study was to improve and evaluate the existing pedal-operated guyabano seed remover by using an electric motor as prime mover. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the seed removal rate of the machine; to conduct a cost and return analysis of the machine and to compare the performance of the improved machine with an existing pedal-operated seed remover. Analysis of variance indicated that the two variables did not significantly affect the amount of seeds removed. However, the speed of rotation of blades was found to significantly affect the amount of fibers removed from the guyabano sample. Also, the results show that both the variables and their interaction was found to significantly affect the amount of juice collected after the operation. The designed machine has a seed removal rate of 30.556g/min. The capacity of the machine is 20 kilograms of guyabano per hour. The initial cost of the machine was computed to be P 7,085.00 and the payback Period was computed to be 82 days, which is less than the machine’s life span.
