CRUZ, CHRISTOPHER S. Production of Hybrid Varieties of Crucifers at DA-TechGen Demo Farm. Farm Practice Report Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Major in Horticulture. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2011 Adviser: Dr. Arnulfo C. Pascual
The student conducted on-the- job training at the DA-TechGen Demo Farm at Brgy. Cabulusan, Magallanes, Cavite from November 11, 2010- February 11, 2011 for a duration of 46Ohrs. He was assigned to grow hybrid varieties of crucifers such as cauliflower (var. Tropicana), cabbage (var. Gladiator) and broccoli (var. Green Top). The farm practice aimed to enhance the skills of the student on the production of hybrid varieties of crucifers to enable him to apply the knowledge acquired in the school to actual crop production. It also aimed to familiarize him with the problems in associated with cultivation of hybrid varieties of crucifers.
The student performed activities related and required for growing cabbage, cauliflower, and broccoli such as seedling production, nursery management, land and plot preparation, transplanting, fertilization, watering, weeding, pest control, pruning, disbudding, trimming, harvesting, postharvest handling and marketing. The farm practice enabled the student to acquire knowledge in the production of hybrid varieties of cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli. Likewise, it enhanced his skill in various cultural practices required to obtain good outcome on production and to judiciously respond to problems associated with crucifer growing.
