Abstract: Tepora, Analyn R., Applied Research IV ( General Science Curriculum) Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite April 1999. “ Utilization of Adelfa ( Nerium Indicum mill) Leaves as Housefly Killer”. Adviser: Prof. Carlos N. Rodil This Study entitled “ Utilization Of Adelfa ( Nerium indicum mill) Leaves as Housefly Killer’’ was conducted to find out the following: (1) determine if adelfa leaves can be used as house fly killer (2) determine the effectivity of the produced house fly killer (3) determine the best percentage of extracted adelfa leaves mixed with water to produce an insect killer and (4) detemine which solution can be comparable with the commercial insecticide in killing housefly. It was conducted at Buna Lejos, Indang, Cavite from May to June 1998. A Randomized Complete Block Design was used in this study. The different treatments used in this study were, TO — 75% water + 25% leaf extract, T1 - 50% water 50% leaf extract, T3 — 25% water + 75% leaf extract, T4 — 100% leaf extract and T5 — commercial insecticide. Results of this study after three tests showed that adelfa leaves extract can be used as housefly killer, TS ( commercial insecticide) was found to be the most effective in killing houseflies, T4 ( 100% leaf extract) is comparable to TS ( commercial insecticide) and one hour after treatment gave 100% mortality of houseflies using commercial insecticide and 100% leaf extract of adelfa.
