Abstract: RODEROS, ANN FRANCESCA E., ISURENA, JOANA MARIE It. and APOSTOL, MEBEJOY P., "Responses of Indang Municipal Police Officers on Crime Prevention". Undergraduate Thesis.Bachelor of Science in Criminology.Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Prof Ruby Ann L. Espineli. This study titled "Responses of Indang Municipal Police Officers on Crime Prevention" was conducted in Indang, Cavite from November 2013 to March 2014. Generally, it assessed the responses of Indang Municipal Police Officers on crime prevention. Specifically, it aimed to: determine the demographic profile of the PNP officers in terms of age, sex, marital status, highest training attended, rank and years in service;determine the perception of PNP officers on crime prevention in terms of patrol, education and information gathering; determine the responses of PNP officers in Indang on crime prevention as perceived by the community in terms of patrol, education and information gathering; determine if there is a significant relationship between the demographic profile of PNP officers of Indang in terms of age, sex, marital status, highest training attended, rank and years in service and their responses on crime prevention in terms of patrol, education, and information gathering; and determine if there is a significant difference between the perception of the PNP officers of Indang and community on crime prevention in terms of patrol, education and information gathering. A total of 430 participants composed of all the commissioned officers of Indang Municipal Police and 400 residents coming from the different barangays of Indang were chosen randomly for the assessment of the responses of Indang Municipal Police Officers. Questionnaire was used as main gathering tool. Slovin's formula, Percentage, mean and standard deviation, Pearson r and Mann-Whitney U test were employed to answer the specific problems and assess the responses of Indang Municipal Police Officers on crime prevention. Most of the Indang Municipal Police officers were male with ages 31-35. Majority of the police officers attended PSBRC as their highest training and were married. In terms of rank, most of them were Police Officer 1 and served for 1-5 years. The Indang Municipal Police officers perceived that they "Always" performed the items stated in terms of patrol, education, and information gathering while the community perceived that the police "Sometimes" performed their duties in terms of patrol and education, and "Very Often" in the items stated in terms of information gathering. Findings show that the demographic profile of the Indang Municipal Police officers may not affect their responses on crime prevention. Therefore, the null hypothesis of no significant relationship between their demographic profile and their responses was accepted. On the other hand, the null hypothesis of no significant difference between the perception of the community members and the police officers regarding their responses on crime prevention was rejected. This study recommends the Indang Municipal Police officers may conduct seminars regarding crime prevention, and other topics that could teach the community to protect themselves. They may also coordinate with the barangay captains of each barangay to make information dissemination easy and effective.
