Abstract: REYES, ROBIE ANN M. Cash Management of Kaylaway Multi-Purpose Cooperative. Undergraduate Case Study, Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Financial Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Prof. Estrellita D. Corpuz. A case study was conducted from July to September 2013 at Kaylaway Multi-Purpose Cooperative (KMPC) located at Calo, Kaylaway, Nasugbu, Batangas. This study was conducted to allow the student to apply her gained knowledge and skills in Business Management, especially in Financial Management, to actual experiences and real life working situations. Specifically, the study aimed to describe the profile and operations of the cooperative's water services; describe the flow of cash; determine the cooperative's monitoring and control practices in handling cash; analyze the cooperative's liquidity; and solvency performance using financial ratios; and identify the problems encountered by the cooperative in managing its cash and recommend feasible solutions to the problems identified. Data and information were obtained through interviews, observations within the operations of the cooperative's water services and personal interviews with the personnel of the cooperative. Other information were gathered from the cooperative's files and records, textbooks, other reading materials, and electronic sources. Comparative analysis was used to evaluate the cash performance of KMPC from 2008 to 2012. Current ratio, quick or acid test ratio, cash flow liquidity ratio, current cash debt coverage ratio, and cash flow margin were the financial ratios used to analyze the liquidity and solvency of the cooperative. Liquidity analysis showed that the cooperative was most liquid during the year 2011. KMPC's leverage increased over the years but in general, the five periods indicate that the cooperative was not relying too much on borrowed capital. In addition, the profitability performance of KMPC using the above mentioned financial tools, had not been that good during the five-year period studied. The evaluation of the operation of the cooperative revealed that there were inefficiencies in monitoring and managing cash resulting in cash deficiencies. The reason might be because their sales were tied up longer in accounts receivables.
