Undergraduate Thesis.Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication.Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Adviser: Dr. Bettina Joyce P. Ilagan. This study aimed to determine the relationship between CvSU CHED scholars' utilization of mediated communication and their perceived satisfaction of the quality of their family relationships. Specifically, it aimed to: identify CvSU CHED scholars' utilization of mediated communication in terms of the mediated communication they use and the frequency of their utilization to in communicating with their families; determine their satisfaction of the quality of their family relationships amidst long distance in terms of their personal adequacy and the content of communication; and discover if there is a relationship between participants' utilization of mediated communication and their perceived satisfaction of the quality of their family relationships. This study was conducted on November 2014 to February 2015 at Cavite State University utilizing descriptive type of research which used survey questionnaire to gather data. Simple random sampling was used to come up with 115 Commission on Higher Education (CHED) scholars that were used as the participants of the study. Mean, standard deviation, Spearman rank correlation were used to analyze the data. Results revealed that CvSU CHED scholars communicate to their families through sending SMS and cellphone calls and they highly utilize mediated communication. It also shows that the participants are highly satisfied of the quality of their family relationship both in terms of personal adequacy and content of communication
