DELA CRUZ Leadership Style, Personality Types and Academic Performance of Supreme Student Government (SSG) Officers In Public High Schools From District 7 of Cavite S.Y. 2014-2015. The study was conducted to find out the leadership style, personality types and academic performance of Supreme Student Government officers in public high schools from the 7th District of Cavite S.Y 2014-2015. Specifically the study aimed to determined- 1) the position of the SSG officers; 2) the leadership styles of the SSG officers in terms of: autocratic, democratic and free rein/laissez faire; 3) the personality types of the SSG officers in terms of realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising and conventional; 4) the academic performance of the SSG officers; and lastly 5) the relationship between leadership style, personality types and academic performance of Supreme Student Government officers in public schools from district 7 of Cavite. The descriptive correlational method of research was used in this study. This type of study is used to describe the present behavior or characteristics of a particular population and determine if two or more variables are associated or related with each other. Stratified sampling was used to identify the number of participants. The participants of this study were consisting of one hundred forty nine (149) high school students. The researchers used Personality Mosaic, lifted from Silan (2012), in order to identify the personality types of the SSG officers while Leadership Questionnaire, lifted and modified from Jeciel (2007), in order to identify their leadership style. The result of statistical analysis indicated that majority of the Supreme Student Government officers were using democratic leadership style while the others were autocratic and free rein/laissez-faire. Also majority of them have satisfactory academic performance. Realistic, investigative, artistic, social and conventional were not significantly related to academic performance while enterprising was significantly related to academic performance. Leadership style and personality types were not significantly related same as with leadership style and academic performance. As the findings revealed students may not base through personality and academic performance in choosing a leader. More so they may consider the experience or skills to be able to come up with the right decision.
