Abstract: DUCAY, JINHEL L., and MONDRAGON, JEAN KHARREN D. Knowledge and Perception of selected BS International Studies students on Same Sex Marriage. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in International Studies major in Southeast Asian Studies. Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Prof. Adora Joy T. Plete. This study was conducted to: (1) describe the demographic characteristics, such as age, sex, civil status, religion, year level and major of the participants; (2) determine the level of knowledge of selected BSIS students on Same Sex Marriage; (3) determine the sources of information of BSIS students on Same Sex Marriage (4) determine the level of perception of selected BSIS students on Same Sex Marriage; (5) determine the relationship between the demographic profile of the participants and their knowledge on Same Sex Marriage; (6) determine the relationship between the demographic profile of the participants and their perception on Same Sex Marriage; and (7) determine the relationship between the knowledge and perception of selected BSIS students on Same Sex Marriage. The participants of the study were 140 selected BSIS students enrolled during Academic Year 2015-2016. The data were analyzed using the descriptive statistics such as mean, frequency counts, percentage, range and standard deviation and descriptive correlational statistics such as Pearson product moment correlation, point biserial, chi-square and Spearman rank correlation. The average age of the participants was 19 years from the range 16 — 24 years old. Most of the participants were female (83%), single (100%), 1st year (34%), and are Catholics (73%). Ninety-three out of the 140 participants were Knowledgeable on Same Sex Marriage. The main sources of information on Same Sex Marriage were the social media/ internet, television program/movies as well as artist/celebrity. The perception of the participants on Same Sex Marriage was high based from the overall mean of 3.50. Age, year level, and major of the participants were found to have significant e.) relationship with knowledge on Same Sex Marriage. Meanwhile, age, religion, gender and year level were found to have significant relationship with the perception of the participants on Same Sex Marriage. A significant relationship also exists between knowledge and perception of the participants on Same Sex Marriage.
