Adviser: Dr. Lorna L. Penales A baby thesis study was conducted at Selected Public Schools in Cavite (Indang National High School, Anuling National High School, Tagaytay National High School, Kaong National High School, Gen. Vito Belarmino National High School, Alfonso National High School, Buck Estate National High School, Taywanak National High School, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo National High School, Luksuhin National High School and Pangil National High School) from July 2004 to October 2004. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the teaching effectiveness of Mathematics teachers who are non- Mathematics majors when it comes to their instructional skills, personal and social qualities. Data gathering was done through the personal assessment of Mathematics teachers to themselves and the evaluation of principals and students on them using the evaluation sheet found in Appendix IV. Based on the evaluation, the Mathematics teachers who are non- Mathematics majors are found effective in teaching Mathematics even though it is not their area of specialization.
