Abstract: Creencia, Ruby Anne Gallardo; Duterte, Lorena Olor; Tanyag, Eden Berenguel, Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics. Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. October 2004. Adviser: Dr. Lorna L. Penales. Intensive Mathematics Program (IMP) was designed for selected sophomore students enrolled in Intermediate Algebra with below-average level of proficiency. It generally aims to determine if there will be significant differences between the students' performances in certain mathematics lessons covered in the previous chapter before, during and after IMP. The chapter covered is the Integral Exponents. Initially, twenty-five sophomore students with below-average level of proficiency in Mathematics were purposively selected as samples. Pretest and posttest were administered. They were observed while performing the exercises and drills. After the conduct, the Intensive Mathematics Program was found effective. There were developments in the scores of their quizzes during IMP and on their posttest. Exercises and drills helped a lot in gaining higher scores. Specifically, there is a significant difference between the results of the pretest and posttest and between the quizzes recorded before and during IMP.
