This study aimed to characterize five selected river watersheds of Indang, Cavite; determine the physico- chemical properties of the air and soil in the watersheds, identify the different tree species commonly found in selected river watersheds, determine the frequency and density of tree species found in the watersheds, determine the diversity index of trees commonly found in the watersheds, and correlate the tree density to the physico-chemical properties of the air and soil in the selected river watersheds of Indang.

Indang river watersheds are covered with trees, shrubs and grasses. Most of the residents living nearby or in the watersheds used the land areas for planting vegetables, feeding cows and other ruminants with grasses, harvest fruits from trees and pick-up dried branches for firewood. The soils in the watershed are loam and clay loam.

The mean physico-chemical properties of air and soil in the selected river watersheds of Indang were: soil pH- 7.69, soil temperature- 25.26°C, air temperature-27.98°C and relative humidity- 73.6%.

Twenty plant species were identified in the selected river watersheds of Indang, Cavite. Among the identified tree species, kakawate (Gliricidia sepium) had the highest percent frequency value (80%), while mango had the highest density value (9.2). Among the 20 tree species, abundance of mango tree has positive correlation with soil pH. The diversity index of the tree species is considered very low with 0.02 to 0.69.
