This study was conducted to determine the relationship of self-efficacy, achievement motivation, study skills to academic achievement of BS Psychology students at Cavite State University- Main Campus. It also determined the significant difference among self-efficacy, achievement motivation, study skills, and academic achievement of BS Psychology students. Specifically, this study aimed to: (1) measure the level of self-efficacy, achievement motivation, study skills, and academic achievement of BS Psychology students as grouped according to year level: second year, third year, fourth year; and overall; (2) determine the significant difference of the following variables across level: self-efficacy, achievement motivation, study skills, and academic achievement; (3) determine the significant relationship between the following variables: self-efficacy and academic achievement, achievement motivation and academic achievement, and study skills and academic achievement; (4) identify the predictors of academic achievement Of the BS Psychology students.
This study used descriptive comparative correlational research design. The Participants of the study consisted of 250 students of BS Psychology. The participants of this study were second year to fourth year BS Psychology students of Cavite State University in Indang, Cavite. This study used stratified proportional random sampling and cluster sampling to determine the participants of the study. The names of the
participants were selected by section, until the desired number of participants was achieved.
The level of self-efficacy of psychology students was on the average level. On the other hand, the level of achievement motivation of psychology students was on the high level. The level of study skills of psychology students fell on the high level, and the level of academic achievement of BS Psychology students fell on very good level. Moreover, there were no significant difference on self-efficacy, study skills, and academic achievement across levels, but the there was a significant difference on achievement motivation and academic achievement across the level. The third-year students got the highest level of achievement motivation. Result of the study indicated that achievement motivations was related to academic achievement while self-efficacy and study skills of students did not have any significant relationship with academic achievement. Achievement motivation is a predictor of academic achievement, therefore
