A Comparative Study on Physical and Chemical Weed Control Methods or Upland Rice was conducted at Trece Martires City from June to October 1978 to assess their effectiveness on the weed species and on the yield of traditional rice variety. A 552 square-meter lot was prepared thoroughly with the use of ordinary farm implements. The entire lot was divided into four blocks which represented the replications. Each block was further subdivided into five plots. There were four treatments and a control which were distributed at random (See Figure 1) in the different plots of the blocks. 1978. Dalikit variety of rice was broadcast on June 23, five weeks after planting, the plant hoppers were noticed. The growth of the plants was stunted. The in- sect pests were controlled by spraying with Azodrin 202. Harvesting was done on October 21, 1978. Rice was harvested with the use of scythe. The result of the study showed that upland rice, hand weeded followed by cultivation gave the best yield.
