This project was conducted at Barangay Calumpang, Indang,Cavite from February 18 to June 21 2017. The project developed the skills of the student in swine production, gained additional knowledge, applied the management practices theoretically learned from the animal science courses, solved the problems encountered by the hog raisers, and gained profit after the production.
The swine production project used four growers with an average weight of 11 kg. He was fed three times a day for 6 weeks and twice a day in the remaining rearing period. After the 123 days of raising the hogs, an average weight of 88.75 kg was attained. The feed intake of hogs is 225 kg, with the average body gain of 630 g and feed efficiency 2.96.
The hogs were marketed at P167.5/kg of dressed weight. The total production cost was P38, 556.00 with the gross sales of P45, 520.00 has a net income of P6,964.00. The return on investment was 18.06 %.
