NICOLAS, GERSON G. and PEREY, JAN ELAINE B. Development of a Signal Enhancer Device. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2018. Adviser: Engr. Michael T. Costa.

The general objective of the study was to develop a signal enhancer device. Specifically, it aimed design and construct the outdoor antenna. It also aimed to construct the receiving circuit, amplifier circuit, and the transmitter for the device. Moreover, it aimed to design and integrate the whole device and test and evaluate the performance of the system. Lastly, it aimed to conduct a cost computation.

The design project was composed of a Yagi-Uda antenna that serves as the receiving or the outdoor antenna that gather the signal outside the building, a coaxial cables that serve as the transmission line of the signals. The circuit box of the device was composed of bandpass filter that is used to filter the received signals, it allowed the desired frequency to pass through and blocking the unwanted signals. The RF amplifier circuit that is used to amplify the power of the signals that will be transmitted in order to increase the range of the radio wave. The system was also composed of a dome antenna and a quarter wavelength antenna that serves as the transmitting or the inside antenna, that is used to maximize the coverage of the transmitted signal. It also has a power supply that supplies the needed power to the circuit of the device.

The unit was tested by the researchers. The project testing was done at Engineering Science (ES) Building, College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT), Cavite State University (CvSU), Indang, Cavite and at Amadeo, Cavite. The strength of the signal was computed through the use of data in the evaluation. The device was used to enhance the signal or both Smart and Globe networks. It was evaluated using the smart phones and a network into application.

Based on the result of the evaluation, the project met the given objectives. The device was able to enhance the signal reception of the two main providers- Smart and Globe. During the evaluation some error occurs there are times that the signal was fluctuated. The device was prove its functionality, usability, and reliability.

Technical evaluation showed that the device was able to enhance the signal through the use of the network signal info application. The device did not gained a more than 70 dB since it is a low power device and the signal that received to the outside antenna was already weak, the losses in the transmission medium was also considered.
