This study was conducted from January to February 2019 in several areas of Cavite, specifically in Dasmaririas, Tanza, Alfonso and Amadeo, to know the lived experiences of illegitimate adults through the use of narrative method. Specifically, it aimed to determine the following: 1. their personal experiences when they first find out that they are illegitimate; 2. their personal experiences dealing with the struggles as illegitimate; and 3. how their personal experiences as illegitimate shaped them. The study utilized qualitative design incorporating narrative as a methodology that intends to acquire and extract particular topics from eight illegitimate adults. The researchers used snowball sampling and purposive sampling. Semi-structured interview guide questionnaires validated by the experts were used as research instrument. Narrative analysis was used to analyze the gathered data. Member checking was also used as a method to validate the results. The results revealed that most of the participants wholeheartedly accepted when they found out that they were illegitimate. They had positive outlook in life and very determined and motivated to achieve their plans and goals particularly for their future family. However, some of them experienced conflicts while growing up. Through the hardships that the participants experienced, it led them to develop positive thinking and learned from it.
Some of the participants experienced some kind of bullying from the people around them wherein they saw it as a source of confidence and lesson. They chose to have an in depth understanding of the things that they cannot control and accept the things that they cannot change, which is being illegitimate.
