The entrepreneurial development project was conducted at the Extension and Business Affairs vegetable production area, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite from May 2018 to December 2018. It aimed to: (1) gain more knowledge and experience in lettuce production; (2) gain income from lettuce production, and (3) determine the profitability of lettuce production enterprise. This project was a partnership type of business with 300 m2 of land area. The production enterprise has 2,240 lettuce plants with 1,120 each for romaine and green ice lettuce variety.
The production activities involved purchasing of seeds and other materials, preparing of land, preparing of Fermented Fruit Juice, preparing of sowing media, caring and managing of the seedlings, hardening, transplanting, watering, weeding, applying of fertilizer, applying of Fermented Fruit Juice, managing and controlling of pest, harvesting, post-harvest management, and marketing.
The gross income amounted to P 9,500. The net income was computed with a value of P 1,737. The return on investment (ROI) was 22.78 percent.
