BORRES, GILDA, FLORES, CYREN MAE A., and REMO, JAYRARD DOEMINIQUE M. Structural Equation Modeling of the Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction of Public Senior High School Teachers in the Province of Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics with specialization in Statistics. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2018. Adviser: Mrs. Jennifer R. Mojica.
This study explored the possibility of investigating the relationship of emotional intelligence and job satisfaction of public senior high school teachers in the province of Cavite. Specifically this study aimed to (1) determine the level of emotional intelligence of public senior high school teachers; (2) determine the level of job satisfaction of public senior high school teachers; (3) determine the significant factors under emotional intelligence of public senior high school teachers; (4) determine the significant factors under job satisfaction of public senior high school teachers; (5) determine the effect of the significant factors of emotional intelligence to the significant factors of job satisfaction; and (6) illustrate a model showing the relationship of emotional intelligence and job satisfaction.
The study used the descriptive-correlational research design. This study determined the relationship of the independent and dependent variables. A total of six hundred fifty eight public senior high school teachers in Cavite were considered as the participants of this study. Emotional Intelligence Self-Evaluation Test which was developed by Dr. Nicholas Hall and the Job Satisfaction Survey Test by Paul E. Spector was used in the study.
Study found that under emotional intelligence there are only two factors that became significant; empathy and optimism factor, and sympathy factor. While in job satisfaction, there are three factors that became significant; unfair supervision factor, happiness at work factor, and wage satisfaction factor.
Result of the study shows that the constructed structural equation model indicates an acceptable model using CMIN/DF (minimum discrepancy divided by degrees of freedom) ratio equal to 1.725 and the RMSEA (root mean square error of approximation) equal to 0.046.
Hence, the researchers recommend creating a path diagram instead of creating model and using path analysis instead of factor analysis to show connections of the different subscales of emotional intelligence and job satisfaction and to verify the created path diagram using confirmatory path analysis.
