A farm Practice Project entitled Production of Bell Pepper Using
Recycled Containers as Growing Beds" was conducted at the Crop Science
Department, Vegetable Project Area, Don Severino Agricultural College, Indang, Cavite from September to December, 19%. The project aimed to: a) enable the student to put into actual practice the growing of bell pepper in recycled containers, and b) generate income and determine the profitability of growing bell pepper in recycled containers.
A total of 500 bell pepper plants was planted in recycled plastic ice cream containers and biscuit cans from which 200 kilograms fruits were harvested.
The project's production cost amounted to P5,384.97 of which 42.95% or P2,313.00 was spent for the purchase of materials. Labor cost amounted to P2,370.OO or an equivalent of 44.01% of the total cost production. On the other hand, fixed cost amounted to P701.97 or 13.04% of the total production cost. The total gross income realized from the project amounted to P 10,700.00. This came from the sales of 200 kilograms bell pepper; The project earned a net income of P5,315.03 with a return on investment of 98.70%.
