This study was conducted in order to determine the occupational safety, health practices and job performance of employees in selected hospitals in Cavite. Specifically, the study aimed to: (a) describe the demographic profile of employees in the hospitals in terms of age, sex, marital status, position and length of service rendered; (b) describe the level of implementation of occupational safety and health practices of selected hospital in Cavite in terms of workplace condition, risk management, waste disposal, chemical handling and storage, maintenance of medical equipment and personal protective equipment; (c) describe the level of job performance of employees of selected hospital in Cavite; (d) determine the relationship between level of implementation of occupational safety and health practices and employees job performance; and (e) determine an occupational safety, health practices enhancement program that may be proposed based on the results of the study.
Data were collected with the use of survey questionnaire. Participants of the study were focused only on the regular employees of selected government hospitals in Cavite. Weighted mean, percentage, standard deviation and Spearman Correlation were computed to analyze the data.
Results of the study showed that majority of the participants were female (64%). In terms of age majority (52%) of the participants belonged to age range 30 to 49. Most of them are married (62%). 40 percent were nurses, and majority of the pants had 10 and below years of service.
Results showed that the occupational safety and health practices in terms of dace condition, risk management, waste disposal, maintenance of medical equipment, chemical handling and storage, and personal protective equipment are frequently implemented.
Results show that the regular employees in the hospitals were very satisfactory in terms of their job performance.
It also showed that these safety and health practices had a significant relationship with the job performance of the employees except for maintenance of medical equipment.
