ALCAZAR, ALEXIS U. and MATALOG, MARVIN V. Design and Construction of Banana Plant Cell-Powered Lamp. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Engr. Jonathan A. Calina.
The study was conducted in Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. It generally aimed to design and construct a lamp powered by banana plant cells. Specifically, it aimed to: (1) identify the most acidic variety of banana plant among Saba, Lacatan, Latundan, Berde, and Senorita; (2) identify the most efficient electrode combination among copper, galvanized steel, magnesium, aluminum, and carbon; (3) identify the highest possible power to produce by measuring open circuit voltage and short circuit current with different varieties of banana sample; (4) design and construct banana plant cell; (5) construct banana plant battery; and (6) conduct self-discharge evaluation and load testing.
The study was all about creation of a customized portable lamp and banana plant battery. The lamp was designed first and the banana plant battery was intended to sufficiently power the customized lamp.
Because the source of electrolytes for the banana plant cells are waste banana pseudo stems, the banana plant cell powered lamp could be used wherever banana plants are accessible.
