The entrepreneurial development project was conducted at Purok III, Barangay Bancod Indang, Cavite from December 4, 2018 to March 15, 2019. This project aimed to: (1) expose the student entrepreneur to backyard hog fattening business; (2) enhance her entrepreneurial skills; and (3) earn profit from this production. This project was composed of four fattening hogs reared for 101 days. The hogs with an average initial weight of 16 kg were purchased from Earlysun Hog Farm, Lintiw Road, Barangay Buna Cerca, Indang, Cavite.
During the whole production period, the hogs were accorded with proper care and management. The stocks had an average final weight of 90.88 kg after 101 days of rearing. Each hog consumed 201.50 kg of feeds. The hogs had an average gain in weight of 74.88 kg which was equivalent to 748.6 g average daily gain. The computed average conversion efficiency was 2.69. At the end of the project, the cost of production amounted to P 41,440. The total sales amounted to P43, 535. This resulted to a net income of P 2,095 and 5.06 percent return on investment (ROI).
