LLAMADO, JONATHAN V. and GIRLIE Q. VIDALLO. Design and Development of a Microprocessor — Based Juice Pouch Filler and Sealer. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Cavite

State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2002. Adviser: Mr. Bienvenido C. Sarmiento Jr. The Microprocessor-Based Juice Pouch Filler and Sealer was constructed and developed at Bancod, Indang , Cavite. The design project aimed to develop a system that will automatically fill and seal pouches. The project was composed of the pouch filler and sealer machine, control unit, motor driver unit, juice tank and the software. Assembly language was the programming language used in the development of the software.

The machine was evaluated twice, preliminary and final evaluation. The final evaluation of the design project took place at the University Food Processing Center on April 16,2002 at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. It was done by conducting an actual filling and sealing of pouches using both the manual method and the proposed project. The pouches produced on both methods were counted and compared. Several questions and comments arose during the evaluation and the following were recommended: there should be a sensor in the loading section that will determine if the pouch is not loaded properly; use stainless juice tank instead of a plastic jag; provide a longer conveyor to load more pouches; there should be a counter to determine the number of filled and sealed pouches; and use a power back-up in case of power failure. Based on the results of the study, the machine, microprocessor circuit and the software were developed. It was therefore concluded that the Microprocessor-based Juice Pouch Filler and Sealer was able to fill and seal pouches automatically. It was also concluded that the machine was preferable to use than the existing manual method.
