The study on anthurium production which is an enterprise development project was conducted in 189 sqm. land at Taywanak Ilaya, Alfonso, Cavite from July 1, 1995 to January 31, 1996. This study covered only the management, production, and marketing aspects.
The study aimed to enhance the students managerial and entrepreneurial skills, to give the student a chance to apply their theoretical knowledge in agribusiness management to real life working situations, and to identify problems and formulate feasible solutions to such problems.
Three hundred thirty-three plants were used. Data were gathered through actual observation and participation of the student entrepreneurs in all activities of the project.
After six months of operation the Project incurred loss but this is normal since the positive returns would be realized after two years.
Several problems such as occurence of pest and diseases and price fluctuation were encountered. To control pest and diseases regular application of pesticide and fungicide were done. In an entrepreneurial project like this, it is recommended that before engaging in anthurium production the proponents must have the necessary technical knowhow i managing an agribusiness enterprise. This could be done by attending seminars, symposium, consulting with the expert in anthurium business and also through reading of some materials about such endeavor.
