BELMI, ESTELITA DOLOR. Response of Hydroponically Grown Cauliflower (Brassica oleraceaa var. botrytis) to Varying Levels of Fermented Fruit Juice. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Horticulture. Cavite State University, Indang , Cavite. April 2002. Adviser: Dr. Arnulfo C. Pascual.
The study was conducted at the Vegetable Production Area of the Department of Crop Science, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite from October 2001 to January 2002. It aimed to evaluate the growth and yield response of two cauliflower cultivars to varying concentrations of fermented fruit juice and determine the NPK levels of fermented fruit juice. Three treatments were used in the study: pure polyfeed solution (To), 25% of fermented fruit juice plus 75% polyfeed solution (T1) and 50% of fermented fruit juice plus polyfeed solution (T2). All data obtained were subjected to Analysis of Variance following 2x3 split plot in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) and differences among means were determined using Least Significant Different Test (LSD). The significant effects of pure polyfeed (To) was observed in terms of average weight of curd; various analyses revealed that the two different varieties did not give significant differences on any data gathered; and the most favorable results were exhibited by the plants grown in pure polyfeed solution (To). Result showed that varying levels of fermented fruit juice did not cause significant differences in plant height of the hydroponically grown cauliflower. No effect on average leaf area was, likewise, observed.
