The farm practice was conducted at the Sloping Agricultural Land Technology Demonstration Project of the Don Severino Agricultural College. The project aimed to determine the possibility of generating additional income from the farm or even from the backyard through strip farming .pattern.

An area of 400 square mefers (100 sq. m. for pole sitao) which was a little bit slopy was chosen for the project. It was harrowed and plowed twice with one week interval each to allow weed seeds to germinate.

The pole sitao seeds were planted and fertilized on August 11, 1984. Six and one-fourth kilos of complete Fertilizer were used. Four days after, germination started. On August 28, 1984, each plant was provided with a pole for support.

No disease was found attacking the plants, however, bean aphids and ants were observed. These insects were controlled by treating the plants with Malathion.

Green pods were harvested on October 16, 19, 23, 26, and 30. The total harvests obtained weighed 57 kilos which was equivalent to 285 bundles. Each bundle was sola at P2 each gaining a total gross income of P570,.

The actual input spent was P272 and the project gave a net income of P297.506
