<br/><br/> A farm practice project, "Corn Growing In-Between Pineapple" was established at Limbon, Indang, Ca-vite from October, 1987 to January, 1988. The project aimed to enhance the skill of the Student Outreach Agent in the production of corn. It also aimed to determine the profitability of intercropping corn to pineapple and consequently to encourage farmers to adopt the system. An area of 2,500 square meters already planted to two month old pineapple was used for the production of corn. Planting was done on the first day of October, 1987 by drilling three seeds of corn between pineapple plants. After the seeds were planted, complete fertilizer was applied at the rate of 100 kilograms per hectare. Urea at the rate of 100 kilograms was supplemented four weeks after germination. The corn ears were harvested fresh for market. The total harvest amounted to 0910.00, as the gross income. The net income obtained was 0297.50. The returns to consider were the cash value obtained, the knowledge gained in the actual production and the satisfactory growth of the existing pineapple crops which are to be harvested later.
