The study gathered information about the cultural management practices and technologies being practiced by the farmers in the culture of chayote and to identify the problems associated with chayote production. Five barangays in Alfonso, Cavite were surveyed with a sample size of 25. These are Palumlum, Mangas 2, Esperanza Ibaba, Upli and Lucsuhin Ibaba. The age of the respondents ranged from 29 to 77 years old. Majority were married and reached high school education. Household size of the respondents ranged from 1 to 10 and the number of years in farming ranged from 1 to 35 years. Majority of the respondents were tenants and the size of the farm ranged from 1,250 sq. m to three hectares. The cultural management practices included land preparation, planting, trellising, mulching, pruning, drainage, and fertilizer application, sources of water for irrigation, pest and diseases, harvesting, soil and water conservation practices. Problems encountered by the farmers were likewise included. The problems commonly encountered by the respondents were high cost of farm low cost of farm output, natural calamities, large household size, pests and eases, lack of technical know-how, accessibility problem and age of the respondents.
