A total of 90 day-old commercial broiler chicks were used in this study to determine the effectivity of whey as drinking substitute for broilers. Whey at 50 percent level was provided during the growing period up to the marketing time. Result of three-week experimental period indicated that birds given whey as drinking water performed better than birds given clean tap water. The first group of the birds posted a higher gain in weight than the latter group which was attributed not only on their higher feed con-sumption but also to their signficantly better feed efficiency. Mortality was observed at younger age but not during the actual whey - provision period. Such that, giving whey to growing birds at 50 percent level is highly recommended for better gain and efficiency.
