This study entitled Awareness of the selected residents of Indang, Cavite on Alternative dispute resolution. The descriptive method of study was used in this research with the survey questionnaire as the main instrument in gathering the data required for the study.
The study sought to find out the level of awareness on ADR Act of 2004 of the selected barangays of Indang, Cavite. Three barangays namely were purposively chosen for the study because they have the highest number of cases reported at the time of the study. Specifically, the study also wanted to answer the following questions to wit: (a) demographic characteristics of the residents of the barangays Alulod, Mahabang Kahoy Cerca, and Mataas na Lupa in terms of age, sex, and educational attainment, and the level of awareness on Alternative Dispute Resolution of the selected barangays in Indang, Cavite. The descriptive method of study was used in this research with the survey questionnaire as the main instrument in gathering the data required. The instrument was tested and found out to have a high reliability coefficient. The study has for its participants, the total population of the residents of the above-mentioned barangays who are eighteen years old and above. The sample size of 385 was determined using the Slovin's Formula at five percent margin of error. Data gathered were analyzed and interpreted using statistical methods such as percentage, weighted mean, and the chi-square test of relationship. The result was the residents of the selected barangays Of Indang Cavite, on their level of awareness on alternative dispute resolution and the residents showed only slight awareness with regards to ADR Act of 2004. The residents have slightly awareness in this law because they're awareness are more on court litigation that if there is dispute, they proceed in filing it in court. That they are slightly aware that this law is made as an alternative means of
resolving dispute and achieving speedy and impartial justice in helping deck logging court dockets in the Philippines (R.A. 9285).
The relationship between the ages and educational attainment of these residents and their level of awareness about ADR Act of 2004 is significantly related with the level of awareness. The more a person is educated the more influences the participants to learn and make use of such law in dealing with future conflicts, In terms of age, the age group of 18-32 years old is the most significantly related with the level of awareness. The more they get older the more matured their mindset and the more, they are open to new ideas and suggestions. Age is an important implication of one's level of awareness, depending on age awareness on a certain topic may varies and as for the study it is shown that age is an important implication of awareness towards Alternative dispute resolution. Sex is not related significantly with the level of awareness, meaning the relationship between the two is too small to be considered. A person can have an awareness on a certain matter even without considering ones' sex, it can be seen that sex cannot be basis for a person capability of accessing new knowledge or awareness because it will always be upon the person's desire to learn furthermore Patterson (2017). Findings of the study will help to increase the awareness of the community on Alternative Dispute Resolution as an alternative means resolving dispute and achieving speedy and impartial justice that will help in deck logging court dockets in the country also the recommended solution coming from the researchers.
